While it is true that Casa de Campo has everything you need for a perfect vacation without leaving, the option to explore the surprises that the east region of the Dominican Republic has to offer is still very tempting. Here we highlight the best historical and outdoor excursions available at the resort.
Excursion to Santo Domingo
Only an hour and a half from the resort, the oldest city in the New World awaits you. Every Wednesday and Friday, we will take you to Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, on an excursion full of history and culture. Explore the wonderful museums, cathedrals, landmarks and streets of the Colonial City while learning about more than 500 years of discoveries about what makes Dominicans the way they are.
Admire the art of making cigars by master craftsmen, (Cigar + Rum Experience)
Have you ever wanted to roll your own cigars? On Tuesdays and Thursdays we visit La Flor Dominicana, the most prestigious cigar factory in the country, to learn about this art. Learn from teachers using traditional methods passed down from generation to generation. After the guide, guests will have the opportunity to roll their own creations and pair them with the finest rum for a full party of the senses.
Tour of Altos de Chavón
Chavón is more than meets the eye. Take a guided tour focused on the architecture, art and history of this magical villa. Visitors will have an opportunity to get to know several studios and workshops of artists, as well as the archaeological museum, the church of San Estanislao and more. The tour is available on Wednesdays and Fridays in the morning and is included for hotel guests.

If you are interested in the anthropological or geological aspects of the Antilles, the Cave of Las Maravillas is an excellent place to start exploring. Be enchanted by the mineral formations of a cave over 100,000 years old and with the cave paintings made by the Taínos, the first indigenous inhabitants of the island. The tour departs on Thursdays and Sundays and includes a walk through the town of La Romana.
Buggie Tour
Do not miss the opportunity to run through the Dominican fields in your own buggie, a safe experience for the whole family. (Higueral Ranch)
Thursday, Friday and Saturday are the days ready to discover Hacienda Higueral, a beautiful historic ranch and farm just 20 minutes from the resort. Visitors can see the cowboys leading the herds and have the opportunity to explore on foot or on horseback the picturesque reed beds, the open meadows and the tranquil lagoons.
